Katie Hanning - Displace, 2022

​

An exploration of displacement through a durational action of moving soil, that will be performed throughout the exhibition opening hours. 

 

Travelling between the exhibition courtyard and locations around Bristol collecting/taking/moving soil/earth the work itself becomes displaced. It is yet to be concluded and replies on the time, place, people and action to construct temporary meaning. 

 

The soil that is displaced from the locations and brought back into the courtyard will be used to create words and phrases that bear testament to the experience of doing the work.

 

Artists Statement

We should all have the opportunity to access our own innate creativity in order to rethink and reshape the world we live in. 

 

I aim to promote accessibility for all through working in public space, social engagement & collaborative action.
